Dr. Ira Thomas

Please join the Crisp County School District as we proudly welcome Dr. Ira K. Thomas as the new Principal at Crisp County Learning Center.

With decades of experience in education, leadership, mentoring, and community service, Dr. Thomas is passionate about helping every student discover a pathway to success. He believes every learner has unlimited potential and deserves a school culture built on high expectations, meaningful relationships, accountability, and opportunity.

Dr. Thomas is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and student-centered environment where academic achievement, personal growth, and future readiness are the foundation of every decision. His leadership emphasizes restorative practices, student advocacy, and strong partnerships with families, staff, and the community to ensure every student has the support needed to thrive.

Guided by the belief that "We are not an alternative school—we are a school with alternatives," Dr. Thomas's vision is to provide innovative pathways that empower students to overcome challenges, graduate with confidence, and become productive, responsible citizens.

Dr. Thomas has been married for 39 years to his wife, Lynne Thomas, an 8th Grade Science Teacher at Crisp County Middle School. Together, they are the proud parents of four children: Ira Thomas, Jr., Dr. Portia Thomas, Micah Thomas, and Joshua Thomas. Their family's commitment to faith, education, and service continues to inspire his leadership and dedication to students.

Dr. Thomas is honored to serve the CCLC community and remains committed to ensuring every student is valued, every family is welcomed, every educator is supported, and every learner is empowered to learn, grow, graduate, and thrive.
